YUQING NIE
Design Associate
Yuqing is a design associate at MFLA. She began her landscape / architecture journey because of her lifelong love affair with Lego. After receiving a Master of Architecture Degree from UC Berkeley, she realized that Architecture and Landscape are not as distinct as people make it out to be, and that each complements the other. She wanted to be able to show this idea in her work, leading her to Harvard’s GSD, where she embarked on a path to obtain a Master of Landscape Architecture degree.
She believes that a strong sense of place and the Genius Loci is vital to enhancing our everyday quality of life and she bends herself to creating that feeling through landscape design. She is interested in both cultural and ecological solutions to urban issues. Her interest stems from her multidisciplinary background and experience. Prior to working at MFLA, Yuqing has 5 years of experience working with various scales and different types of projects both in the U.S. and internationally.
Outside of the studio, Yuqing is an avid collector of Lego. By playing Lego, she has the chance – via those small bricks – to continue building her dream utopia.
