HEATHER DUNBAR, PLA
Senior Design Associate
For over 10 years Heather has been working in Bay Area Landscape Architecture studios and has had the opportunity to work on diverse projects that encompass a wide range of scales and design services spanning on-structure design, new campuses and public parks, adaptive reuse, and ecological restoration. A significant portion of her design portfolio includes public realm work where she gained experience collaborating with large teams of designers, consultants, stakeholders, and community outreach organizations while working to ensure the integrity of the design. Having had several past projects based in California, Heather continues to learn about specific ecologies of the state’s varied landscape and the best practices towards sustainable design suitable for those ecologies.
Heather has worked at Tom Leader Studio and been an invited critic at University of British Columbia, University of California Berkeley, and University of Southern California. She holds an MLA from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Prior to working in the field of landscape architecture, Heather worked in theater, film, and television in New York City. From her time in this field, she believes storytelling to be an important factor in Landscape as it helps to bridge the gap between people and their environment, fostering an understanding of the intersections between the built and natural world.
